Need a detailed book on Buddhism and its different sects?

I'm looking for a good book on the different sects and orders of Buddhism. What they differ Tibetan Buddhism practiced in China, Southeast Asia and Japan? In Japan only know of Shingon, Rinzai, Soto, and Buddhism, then Zen is not everything, but how all these different orders different? How are the teachings of the groups differ from another? I am NOT looking for a little 'Guide Buddhism for Dummies "book. I am familiar with the basic principles of Buddhism, but want to get a deeper understanding of what I can make an educated decision about joining a temple one day. Unfortunately most of the bookstores are filled with shelves of books on Tibetan Buddhism that the Dalai Lama as famous, or the tons of garbage self-help/joyful living on the application of Buddhist principles to your life. Thanks for the advice on specific books and resources.

In a sense, all schools were combined so that you can get a holistic view of Buddhism. For People who study under the master, reciting the names of Buddha, chanting, meditation (Zen), reciting the name of Amitabha (Pure Land), mantra recitation (School secret), repentance, bowing, etc, were all normal as part of the daily routine. Some focused on some intensely practical all other practices. He teaches on the basis of the Mahayana, which encompasses all the lessons of the Great Buddha … all doors that lead to enlightenment. You do not can get a better deal than this.
