The study on unemployment in relation to young Tibetan Refugee Settlement Rabgyal-Ling

"The study on unemployment in relation with youth in the Tibetan refugee settlement Rabgyal-ling "

The following summarizes the pursuit of research (the study of unemployment in relation to youth in the Tibetan refugee settlement Rabgyal-ling) I conducted between 2008-2009. Although the results listed below are for a solution particularly of Tibetan refugees, but can be generalized in many other settlements of Tibetan refugees in India since they all share identical characteristics.

During my data collection, I've spent enough time in the solution and interacted with various members of the community. Most young respondents are made highly efficient and young people, but sad found through this study is that they remain underutilized for a long period. As some of these young unemployed say they are unemployed for more than two years.

According to respondents, the reason for his being unemployed is varied, most of them say who are unemployed due to lack of adequate educational qualifications (46%). And another large part of respondents say their reason for being unemployed is not getting working interest (40%). These two responses in any way indicate that the failure in the field of vocational qualification education and competition.

The problems with all the unemployment that are described above are off-spring of being unemployed. So for this challenge, the causes of unemployment should be treated with appropriate solutions. As this study is concerned, a major cause of this problem is the lack of proper education or professional skills. Thus, policies must be established by which encourages more professional or expert-based education rather than theoretical or general.

The main activities they say they are committed during the period of unemployment is to assist family members in their daily work. However, it was found by members your family: most of the time spent with fellow unemployed in the settlement. This has adverse effects on the various dimensions of his personality. For example, most respondents believed to spend most of their time with other unemployed friends are addicted to one or other addictive substances.

In general, is not deep relationship between unemployment and substance abuse addiction. As found in this study, 27 of 50 respondents admitted they are addicted to one or other substances and most often occurs in a group of friends unemployed.

Also found that the average self-confidence and self-esteem, are comparetively low among these young unemployed. Most respondents feel they are wasting their time by not doing anything productive. When, a few of the respondents claims to be well and fine with being unemployed. In other hand, when asked about 50 senior members of the community, some members of the community (26%) regarded as useless member, but most of them (50%) do not care about their well-being of the unemployed. Through these respondents noted that the cooperation of community members to the young unemployed is insufficient and therefore disappointing. This somehow have meaning in their level of motivation. Therefore, the cooperation of other members community to these young unemployed should be encouraged through both formal and informal ways.

Many of these young unemployed (56%) are somehow involved in acitivities season with the average of 4-5 months in a year in sales acitivities such as sweater and agricultural activities. Most of them (50%) involved in the sale of businesses sweater during the winter season in verious Indian towns and cities. In this case, alternative activities for income generation should be introduced at the level of settlement during off seasons.

It is interesting that almost all these young unemployed (92%) have thought from some companies in a car or other point of time. Besides it was also found that most of these young unemployed (40%) would choose to do something about with business activities if given a choice. But it is clear from this study that faces different types of barriers, ie lack of financial support, lack family support and lack of expertise. It became apparent that most are facing financial barriers. In the past, measures were taken by exile Tibetan Government to provide loans to micro enterprises and financial aid to those who are interested in starting businesses. The need for the continuation of this program appears necessary but should be assessed properly. It was also considered necessary to carry out some training in these fields in the respective settlements for the problem of lack of expertise is reduced at least to some existing. It should be noted that before such training is provided is very important to carry out an assessment needs of the community to ensure active community participation and sustainability.

When asked if they would prefer to work given the option of exile Tibetan government, society in India or anywhere. The majority of respondents saying that they will work anywhere (56%) if given a chance. Through this response, it appears that most of these unemployed young people are aware of the lack of opportunity to work in exile Tibetan communities in India.

When these are the opinions of these youth unemployed Tibetan exile government in general and policies particularly almost the vast majority (74%) say they are very grateful to the government in exile and not feel abandoned at all. But there are some who feel abandoned by the Tibetan government in exile and suggested that the government in exile should pay more attention to giving them a job. At the same time also noted that there expected much of the Tibetan exile government and instead wanted to do something for the exile government.

Also this study revealed that most of these young people unemployed are not always aware of some of the employment policies being implemented in Exile Government. When asked how aware they are in policy employment of the exile government, such as vocational training programs, 68% of respondents say they don "t have any idea about these things and only few respondents say they have little awareness of such policies from exile government only 4 respondents say they are very aware of that.

When collecting data for this Rabgyal-ling study Tibetan Refugee Settlement, I have come across several types of respondents with many different viewpoints. Two of my interviewees joined a policy of employment established by the government in exile, ie vocational training program in Bangalore. As mentioned in the previous two are unemployed since the end of training. Others claimed he was a beneficiary of micro loans and financial aid provided by the Tibetan government in Exile years ago and then turn out to be unsuccessful. As he says, is used to sell vegetables and fruits in the solution with the help of loan from government in exile. Later he had to leave that self-employment because there was no proper co-operation of members of the community. In these cases, the effort should be done by the respective official settlement welfare by encouraging community members to meet and cooperate with them. And by the exile government solution not plan to stop this type of loan but must continue, but be sure it is properly evaluated from time to time.

In short, the rate Unemployment among youth in exile Tibetan community is high and poses many other harmful effects on individuals, families and society in general. As stated by exile Tibetan Prime Minister in an interview that will take a long time to tackle this problem, it is obvious that the number of unemployed young people over the next increase years. Therefore, it is important that all concerned citizens and the authorities should take appropriate and timely.

The Olympic torch was lit on Monday, March 31 in China's capital Beijing. The flame was brought at first the antic Olympia to the Panathinaikon Stadium in Athens. With the hope that the message of peace will take place throughout the world Olympic Committee president Hellenic, Minos Kyriakou, handed the flame over the head of the Chinese Olympic Committee, Liu Qi.

Most European politicians stayed away from the ceremony. The Czech Foreign Minister Karl Schwarzenberg had called for a boycott of the opening ceremony. The reasons for the absence of several politicians, as personal or political reasons are not known. German Chancellor Angela Merkel, said his absence had nothing to do with a boycott. She had decided not to travel to Beijing long before the time differences with Tibet began.

The ceremony was accompanied by a spectacular program, such as circus acrobatics and dance folklore also some Tibetans in traditional dress took part. Xi of China Jinping Vice satisfied that the secular dream of the Chinese nation to organize the Olympic Games finally came true.

This will be the torch relay longest in Olympic history. Highlight the relay will be conducting the flame to the world's highest mountain, Mount Everest. To this feeling has not deviated as part of a flame to bring it to the base camp of Tibetans to the holy mountain. However, still not sure if this part of the route will take place.
