Tibetan Medicine Regular Treatment After Operation

Relax the bandage after blood letting. Press the incision with the thumb gently, followed by pressing with a clean, cold pebble, and then press and wrap with sterilized cotton. The patient should rest and avoid movement. Wine is prohibited for three days so as to prevent the re-appearance of impaired blood.

Advantages and Disadvantages
The effect is very satisfactory when the operation is smooth and the indication is appropriate. It yields the effects of eliminating the necrotic tissue and generating new tissue, stops itching, with a radical cure of purulent formation. The color of an abscess will become normally fresh. It also yields the biphasic action of a healthier complexion and slimming benefits. At the same time, there are also disadvantages, including the transformation of yellow fluidand pus when impaired blood is not totally drawn off, leading to lumps and carbuncle formation. When too much blood is drawn off, bodily resistance is affected, leading to weak stomach fire, edema, etc. Moreover, an inferior operation could sever the tendons or arteries, which must be carefully and strictly avoided.

Moxibustion Therapy
There is a long history of moxibustion therapy in Tibetan medicine. During the Tubo Dynasty, moxibustion was applied for the treatment of heat disorders, including mkhris pa diseases and epidemics. It was only limited to the treatment in cold diseases in later aues. In the modem age, moxibustion is basically applied in diseases such as decadent stomach fire, indigestion, hysteria, mania, epilepsy, forgetfulness, and during the convalescent period of febrile diseases. All cold diseases derived from rlung and badkan disorders are good indications for moxibustion.

Tibetan medicine also claims that there are contra-indications in moxibustion therapy, including disorders in the blood level, mkhris pa disease and all diseases of the orifices of sensory organs. There is a site called “nengmai” (capable
vessel) at the perineum, which is contra-indicated to moxibustion. Violation of this rule might lead to male sterility or impotence.
